Your mission
We're looking for a proactive and strategic Business Development Manager to join our independent design consultancy as our sole BD employee in the US. You'll be working alongside our Design Strategy Manager in London and Business & Strategy Manager in the US, and as part of our growth plans, we also aim to expand the team with a new BD position in the UK.
 
Native has a strong track record of success across key industries, including automotive, MedTech, life sciences, and consumer technology. With the US market experiencing sustained growth in these sectors, we see a significant opportunity to expand our presence. To capitalise on this momentum, we are looking for a business development leader to build our network, establish relationships, and drive new business in the region.
 
As a Business Development Manager at Native, you'll be responsible for generating qualified new business opportunities in the US in line with the company's skills and capabilities. You'll research prospects across key vertical practice areas, create new business appointments, and develop compelling proposals for some of the world's most innovative brands.
 
You'll have the opportunity to network with industry leaders, attend conferences and exhibitions, and collaborate with our world-class team of researchers, strategists, designers, developers and engineers to develop customised new business proposals that showcase our unique blend of industrial, digital and service design expertise.

Oh, and you'll help secure partnerships that push boundaries, challenge perceptions, and always aim to change the world.
Your profile
We won't insult you with a spiel about basic business development skills. That's a given. Instead, here's an idea of the sort of Business Development Manager we hope is reading this:
  • Experienced: You have a proven track record at winning new business and experience writing well-structured and original proposals.
  • Strategic: You can qualify and prioritise opportunities based on business value, creative potential, and commercial viability. You think strategically about the prospective business too, considering how design can help grow their business and digging to find what opportunities there may be.
  • Networker: You thrive in networking environments and can identify prospects across our priority verticals (Health & Pharma, Consumer Electronics, Transportation, Telco, Media & Entertainment, Financial Services).
  • Collaborative: You'll coordinate with Native team members to develop customised new business proposals that showcase our unique capabilities. We only win by working together. 
  • Detail-oriented: You ensure deadlines and deliverables for new business are achieved to the highest level of quality, both for internal reviews and external presentations.
  • Proactive: You excel at articulating a vision to prospective clients and partners and can respond effectively to inbound opportunities via the website, referrals or recommendations. You’ll also be proactive in exploring new initiatives to help drive new business (like speaking events and creating thought pieces). 
  • Self-StarterProactive in identifying and implementing new efficiencies – whether through better software, improved processes, or smarter workflows.
  • Organised: You're skilled at pipeline management and reporting, keeping track of multiple opportunities simultaneously, while maintaining effective stakeholder relationships and clear communication channels, across time zones.
